How many times did you pick up your phone today?
A manager who leads the room but reaches for the phone every few minutes isn't really in the room. Before you decide to change a habit, it's worth knowing your real number. Not an estimate. A number from the device itself.
I counted by hand once: 41 pickups between dinner and bed, on an ordinary evening. Not one of them mattered. Every one of them cost me something. That wasn't something to guess at — it was something to count.
Luckily, you don't have to count by hand. iPhone and Android both have that number waiting for you already, two screens down in Settings.
On iPhone — "Screen Time"
- Settings
- Screen Time
- See All Activity
- At the top, switch from "Day" to "Week" — so you get a real average, not one unusual day
- Scroll down to the "Pickups" card
Short version: Settings → Screen Time → See All Activity → Week → Pickups.
On Android — "Digital Wellbeing"
- Settings
- Digital Wellbeing & Parental Controls
- Show more, under the daily summary circle
- On the details page every app shows "times opened"; the overall total sits on the main dashboard
Short version: Settings → Digital Wellbeing → Show more → times opened.
Found your number? That's the starting point, not the end. ZUZA exists for the moment you choose not to reach for it — a smart doorframe that parks the phone as you walk in, so the evening doesn't have to be a negotiation.
